Description
Unique, handcrafted resin infused natural edge hardwood jewellery created be me in my workshop tucked away in the rolling hills of Kildare, Ireland. This necklace is truly one of a kind – its shape and size were influenced by many factors over the weeks it takes to create, factors like the beautiful materials I worked with, the weather, moods and grooves of the various days along the way.
I really love these pendants, to me they represent more than a beautiful piece of art. They’re made from very special pieces of wood that have come my way from different paths and represent lives lived, full of stories and journeys.
This particular necklace is made from the branch of an ancient fruit tree that grew for decades near the banks of the river Barrow, deep in the countryside of Co Carlow, Ireland. This tree would have witnessed an amazing sequence of natural events over its lifetime as it grew in the tranquillity of an isolated river bank. The sequence of layers from pith to bark are particularly beautiful on this wood and I have used an Sunset Red resin to form a rounded triangular shape that reaches out from the center of the tree out towards the bark and into the red/orange space that connects with the many sunsets that this tree shared fleeting moments with.
This necklace would make a wonderful gift for anybody who appreciates the beauty of form, material and meaning. It has been entirely handcrafted, the wood has been treated to several applications of nourishing Danish Oil and the entire pendant has been polished to a high gloss finish with pure Beeswax and Carnauba wax. The pendant is supported by an 18 inch sliver plated chain with a lobster clasp.
The necklace is delivered to you in a beautiful presentation box that is made from entirely recycled materials, perfect for gifting.
